The project, financed by the European Commission initiative “Support for citizen engagement in the implementation of cohesion policy”, had the following objectives:

• spread the practice of civic monitoring  thanks to the strengthening of methods and tools to verify the progress and outcome of projects;
  
• create a national civic monitoring network to bring together civil society actors active on environmental and sustainable development issues
• promote an informed dialogue  between organized citizens, ERDF Program Management Authorities and political and administrative decision makers, improving the effectiveness of Cohesion Policies and strengthening public participation.

During the 12 months of the project the following results were achieved:

• Implementation of the Project Finder interactive map .
• Organization of three public  training, discussion and dissemination events on civic monitoring of EU environmental funds, with  50 speakers  and the participation of  over 350 people .
• Constitution of ” REMO “, a civic monitoring network of European funds for the environment, thanks to a manifesto signed by thirteen national and local entities of Italian civil society.
• The project reached 60,000 indirect beneficiaries  and there were over  50 press launches  (including ANSA, La Stampa, Wired, L’Espresso).
